McCuaig & Associates Engineering Ltd. (MAE) is a multi-disciplinary firm specializing in the assessment, renovation, and restoration of existing residential, commercial, and public buildings. Since our inception in 1992 by Jak McCuaig, our company has grown organically into a 35+ person workforce with offices in Vancouver, BC and Calgary, AB. Drawing from experience, we are well versed in construction practices, codes, and industry changes, along with current events and climatic variations within regions throughout Western Canada.
We have extensive experience in building asset management, building science, roofing, waterproofing, mechanical engineering, and building energy performance. Our team of professional engineers, engineers-in-training (EIT’s), technicians, technologists, drafters, and experienced administrative staff works hard to provide quality services to our clients. Our firm has long-standing relationships with a wide variety of subconsultants and routinely take on projects varying in scope and discipline. We are invested in our work and our relationships, supporting local businesses and the local Indigenous community, and using sustainable environmental practices whenever possible.
MAE takes a progressive approach to diversity and inclusion in staffing and management decisions. We offer equal opportunities, compensation, and benefits based on merit alone without regard to age, race, gender, religion, sexual orientation, or personal characteristics unrelated to employment performance. This is not only borne out in policy but in practice. MAE is proud to have women in senior positions, while visible or self-identified minorities comprise over 50% of our workforce. Our employees practice different religions, descend from various ethnic minorities, and identify as members of the LGBTQ+ and disabled communities. We are a certified Living Wage Employer through the Alberta Living Wage Network and Living Wage for Families British Columbia. We are the founders of the MAE Indigenous Education Fund, an annual scholarship for self-identifying Indigenous post-secondary students in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) fields.
We prioritize the health and safety of our employees. Our Health and Safety Program follows Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) provincial guidelines and has been validated by a certified auditor. We maintain a Small Employer Certificate of Recognition (SECOR) in Alberta and are currently working to achieve our Certificate of Recognition (COR) in BC.
With a strong focus on mentoring and employee development, MAE offers a diversity of projects, skill sets and team experience that combine to create a great environment for professional and personal growth.
As a growing firm, we offer tremendous potential to advance your career, grow your project portfolio and build long-lasting relationships.
